Our solution provides a flexible, archiving framework to enable the discovery of content held
within mail, file systems and collaborative environments, while helping to reduce storage costs
and simplifying management. Content is managed via an automated, policy-controlled archiving
to online stores for active retention and seamless retrieval of information. The built-in, powerful
search and discovery capabilities of Enterprise Vault are complemented by specialized client
applications for corporate governance, risk management and legal protection.
This efficient and secure solution uses Symantec Enterprise Vault to address the following:
- Application storage management;
- Compliance retention & discovery;
- Operational excellence;
- Knowledge exploitation;
- Upgrade, migration and consolidation.
Central to every organization is the creation and ongoing management of the archive and its
contents. Enterprise Vault software is designed to deliver the capability to securely retain
archived data in such a way that it can be fully exploited and then expire when it is no longer
required. The repository is designed to:
- Store archived content flexibly;
- Reduce storage via compression and single instancing;
- Index content for rapid and targeted retrieval;
- Secure future accessibility, regardless of application, by rendering an HTML copy of all archived content;
- Utilize user authentication security controls; and
- Define and implement retention and expiration policies.

Key Solution Highlights:
|
|
Application Storage Management – According to customer defined policies,
Enterprise Vault software acts as an online archive for older items that are moved from a primary
application storage (e.g. Microsoft Exchange Server). This enables the message store size to be
controlled and allows applications to focus on the dynamic handling of incoming information and
frequently accessed items.
Compliance Retention and eDiscovery – Many organizations are required to
keep all electronic information (e-mail, file share content, etc.) for long periods of time to
adhere to policies for corporate governance. Enterprise Vault can be used to act as a secure
repository for items that need to be retained for extensive periods of time for legal or regulatory
reasons.
Operational Excellence – Enterprise Vault archiving can increase the
operational excellence of any primary application. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for back-up
can be improved via archiving because the majority of data is moved out of the exchange stores
allowing SLAs to be planned and achieved. In addition, end-users can service their own requests
for old and “lost” information without consuming help desk or administration
resources.
Knowledge Exploitation – Enterprise Vault software acts as an "information
warehouse" for personal and corporate data, which can then be mined as a knowledge resource
using the built-in index and search technology. Special purpose products, such as Enterprise Vault
Compliance and Discovery Accelerators, then offer solutions to specific problems such as
regulatory surveillance and legal discovery.
