Position:
The Senior System Engineer is responsible for designing system architectures spanning the whole range of hardware and software technologies using approved system engineering practices. The focus of this role is requirement analysis, high level design including interfaces, subcontract management and providing strong technical direction. The Senior System Engineer is part of a pre-sales team of technical specialists interfacing with team members and the customer who is also located in GTA. This position reports to the Service Manager and the work is evaluated based on quality of results obtained and feedback from customers.
Job Description:
Working with the Project Engineer and other Senior System Engineers, the Senior System Engineer defines the standards and methods for the project and participates in preparing the system requirements specification for interface documents, integration and test plans, and subcontract management plans, in accordance with agreed engineering practices. In conjunction with the technical team, the Senior System Engineer leads the:
System analysis, generation of requirements and interface specifications; Technical management of subcontractors - to ensure adherence to requirements, system engineering process, and schedule; System engineering reviews and management of engineering issues and issues resolution; Subsystem design, development, and testing - to ensure requirements compliance; Integration, test and verification - to define integration and test plans and procedures; participates in reviews of documentation and in the integration and acceptance testing of the system; System Installation - participates in on-site installation and verification of the overall system for both hardware and software. The Senior System Engineer is responsible for ensuring all requirements are reflected in the system design as well as preparing the high level design descriptions. Once the design is complete, the Senior System Engineer is responsible for presenting solution to customer and overseeing all technical aspects of the system by leading technical reviews.
Requirements:
5-8 years experience in large enterprise projects; Proven experience using formal methodologies for requirements, analysis, design, integration and testing; Proven experience with Windows operating systems and applications; Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP, NFS, NIS, NIS+, AD/LDAP, system integration and performance management, system and network security, cluster computing; Familiarity with product development life cycles; Solid problem solving abilities and project execution strengths; Persuasive yet diplomatic and committed to success; Experience making technical decisions in consultation; Display creativity in meeting the requirements and established quality standards in the context of project constraints.
University degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
